Trap and Skeet Rules

Shotgun only, 9, 8, or 7.5 only, no loads other than shot (like slugs or tracers).

Trap and Skeet equipment may be operated only by those trained to use it safely and correctly, and approved to do so by the Chief Range Officer or board.

Available 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, lights must be on at dusk to assure safe operation. Turn them off when done!

General rules – all ranges

All firearms must be unloaded except when actually on the firing line or position. This is known as a cold range policy.

All firearms must be kept pointed in a safe direction at all times. Handle all firearms as if loaded.

Be safe: eye and ear protection required on all firearm ranges, including on-range spectators (indoor range).

Orders of a range officer must be obeyed – they are not open for debate.

Hours of use: Regardless of normal hours of use of the facility, do not shoot on any range unless you can clearly see the background as well as the target. Dawn and Dusk are the ends of safe shooting light outdoors.

Sign-in: Everyone shooting must sign in with their name, firearm type or archery range, and any other requested information, except unless participating in any scheduled practice or competition, where participants sign a score sheet maintained by the range officer.

Special rules may be posted at the range, read and obey them.

A NOTE TO INTRODUCE THE WINTER LEAGUE AT IROQUOIS ROD AND GUN CLUB. IT IS AN INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE SO WE SHOOT FOR OURSELVES ONLY (NO TEAMS).  ALL ARE WELCOME.  WE USUALLY BEGIN SHOOTING AT ABOUT 9:00 TO 9:30 ON SPECIFIC SUNDAYS (SEE BELOW).

THE COST IS $12.00 PER WEEK. $8.00 FOR IROQUOIS ROD AND GUN CLUB BIRDS AND THE OTHER $4.00 FOR THE BANQUET. THIS YEAR YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE 8 SHOOTS COMPLETE IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE FREE BANQUET. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE 8 SHOOTS IN YOU CAN STILL ATTEND THE BANQUET, YOU WILL SIMPLY NEED TO MAKE UP THE MISSING $4.00 PER WEEKS NOT SHOT ADDING UP TO THE 8. THIS IS THE SAME WAY WE DO THE SUMMER LEAGUE.

THIS REALLY IS A FUN LEAGUE AND SOMETIMES WE SHOOT IN SOME REALLY TOUGH, COLD, WINDY, AND SNOWY CONDITIONS. SCORES DO SUFFER BUT THE FUN DOES NOT. EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

WE PLAN TO SHOOT 12/29, 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, AND 1/26 THEN 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/1, 3/8, WITH MAKE UPS 2/2 AND 3/22 IF WE NEED THEM. THE BANQUET IS SCHEDULED FOR 3/29.

JUST SHOW UP, SIGN IN, AND SHOOT. THEN GO HOME AND SNUGGLE NEXT TO THE FIRE.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
